AWS migration services in Egypt
From Cairo, we move Egyptian companies onto AWS: the region that fits, the data rules that apply, and the cost in writing before you commit.
Who this is for
Companies in Egypt running on their own servers, a local data centre or another cloud that want to move to AWS without guessing at the bill. We are based in Cairo, so assessment workshops can happen in person, and the engagement runs in Arabic or English. Our guide to choosing an AWS region in Egypt compares the options in depth; this page is about the migration itself.
What makes an Egyptian migration different
Three things shape the plan before any engineering starts:
- There is no AWS region in Egypt. Workloads run in the Middle East regions in Bahrain or the UAE, or in Europe, and each one trades price, latency and service availability differently. The choice is made per workload and written down.
- Data protection. Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law applies to personal data, and regulated sectors such as banking have their own rules. Your counsel confirms how they apply; the plan records the decision and the technical controls behind it.
- Latency from Egypt. The closest regions are still abroad, so we measure from your users' networks rather than guess, and serve cacheable content through the Amazon CloudFront edge location AWS opened in Cairo in May 2024.
What we deliver
Region choice per workload
A recommendation for each workload between Bahrain, the UAE and Europe, based on its users, its data and what it costs to run in each, with the reason written down.
A costed migration plan
An inventory of what you run, a target architecture with named AWS services, and the AWS cost per workload, with one-off migration cost separated from the monthly run rate. Our cost forecasting service is the same model on its own.
Landing zone and migration in waves
A multi-account AWS structure in your company's name, then the lowest-risk workloads first, each wave with a cutover plan and a rollback position.
Verification and evidence
Each workload checked against the agreed scope after cutover, with a record of what runs where for your team and for any staged AWS funding.
How the migration runs
- 01
Assess
Inventory, data classification and a cost comparison against AWS, which is also the first phase of AWS's Migration Acceleration Program (MAP).
- 02
Mobilize
Regions, landing zone, wave plan and funding route settled, and scope and cost confirmed with you in writing.
- 03
Migrate
Workloads move in tagged, verified waves.
- 04
Hand over
Documentation, then handover to your team or ongoing operations through our cloud services.
Typical migration timeline
Every estate is different, so these are indicative ranges for a mid-sized migration, not a quote. The plan you receive at the end of the assessment has calendar dates for your workloads.
| Phase | Typical duration | What you have at the end |
|---|---|---|
| Assess | 2 to 4 weeks, with workshops in Cairo if you prefer | An inventory, a region choice for each workload with latency measured from Egypt, and a written cost comparison |
| Mobilize | 2 to 6 weeks | A landing zone in your accounts, the wave plan, the funding route and a signed-off scope and cost |
| Migrate | 4 to 16 weeks, in waves | Workloads running on AWS, each wave verified and its resources tagged |
| Hand over | 1 to 2 weeks | Runbooks, architecture and cost documentation, and a handover or ongoing operations |
A single application with a small database can move in a few weeks; an estate with several environments and personal data takes months. Time spent waiting on AWS, such as funding approvals, is shown separately in the plan.
What you get
- A workload inventory with the region chosen for each workload and the reason: price, services and measured latency
- A data protection record of which systems hold personal data, where each one is stored, how it is encrypted and who can access it, which is the technical detail a data protection licence application asks for
- A cost model with the one-off migration cost and the monthly AWS run rate for each workload
- A target architecture with the AWS services named, including what is served from CloudFront in Cairo
- Landing zone code in your repository, so the environment can be rebuilt or moved without starting again
- A wave plan with a cutover window and a rollback position for every wave
- A verification report after each wave: what runs where, and what it costs
- Runbooks and access handed to your team, on AWS accounts in your company's name
Industries we work with
We do not name clients here, and the engineering is similar from one sector to the next. What changes is the rules and the risk, so these are the kinds of companies in Egypt we plan for:
Software and SaaS
Product companies and software houses moving application servers, databases and build pipelines, often serving customers in the Gulf and Europe from Egypt.
Retail and e-commerce
Online stores and marketplaces with seasonal peaks such as Ramadan, where scaling and the timing of each cutover matter most.
Financial services and fintech
Firms under Central Bank of Egypt rules, where sector requirements sit on top of the data protection law. We plan around the requirements your compliance team confirms.
Healthcare
Clinics, laboratories and health platforms holding sensitive personal data, where the data protection record comes before any technical work.
Logistics and transport
Tracking, dispatch and warehouse systems that cannot stop, moved in small waves with short downtime windows.
Education and training
Learning platforms with heavy start-of-term traffic and video, where CloudFront in Cairo and storage costs shape the architecture.
How AWS funding fits
- For smaller migrations we can request partner migration funding ourselves, as an AWS Select Tier Services Partner; at MAP scale we work with your AWS account team.
- A funded proof of concept can come first if one workload's fit is the open question.
- AWS approves every request and says partner benefits may not be available in every market, so we confirm the terms for Egypt first. Our AWS credits guide compares the routes.
Why companies choose Alventara
A Cairo team and an AWS Select Tier Services Partner, with a written scope and a cost built from your real usage before anything moves.
- In person in Cairo when it helps
- Region choice made per workload
- Cost in writing before you commit
